CEO’s New Year Message

Dear Colleagues,

I wish you all a Happy and Blessed 2024!

As we end 2023, I want to take a moment to thank you and express my heartfelt appreciation for the incredible dedication and hard work each of you has contributed to Oman SATS. It is your hard work and efforts that define who we are – a valuable member of Oman SATS – as well as what we represent to the external parties – the stakeholders in particular, and the public in general. Everything that we do, and the way that we carry ourselves – formed an impression to others. I am glad that from what I have heard from others about our work, about our attitude, and our dedication to serving the industry have been positive… so far. Let us work hard to maintain this impression because it is not easy to build this reputation, and certainly more difficult to maintain its status.

The air cargo market was weak for the whole year, not only in Oman, but throughout the world as well. We did see cargo volume improving in the last few months of 2023. Yet, we are still about 30% away from reaching the cargo volume of 2019 (241,000 tons). For 2024, we can only hope for the best, but prepared for the worse. The geo-political environment shows no signs of improvement. Inflation and interest rates continue to remain high, thus impacting business growth. Closer home, our biggest customer and national carrier is undergoing a transformation exercise which will impact the local aviation sector, including us. We are therefore, to remain adaptive and flexible in the way we respond to such external factors that are beyond our control.

While 2023 was tough, we can be proud of our many achievements. To mark the 53rd National Day of Oman, we rolled out our new logo on 19 November, symbolizing our status as a company from Oman operating in an international arena. The logo reflects a fresh and vibrant image of the Company as we are guided by our Corporate Strategy of Customer Focus, Technology Adoption and Infrastructure Developments. The strategy sees a higher focus on KPI service standards and this is seen in the very good feedback from all the customer and stakeholder audits, implementation of technology aids (ipads) in operations, as well as enhancements to our facility (castor decks) to increase handling capacity and operational efficiencies. These are just some key examples – among the many initiatives and innovations that were achieved in 2023.

Finally, as I said last year, do spend quality time with your family and look after them well. Take care of your health and yourself. Continue to upgrade yourselves through training and learning new skills. And thank you for being part of the Oman SATS family.
